Here at Atlas Specific, our purpose is to help you achieve your health and wellness goals with as few adjustments as possible and return your body to an optimal state of health.

In order to understand the concept of Upper Cervical Chiropractic, you must first understand how the body is designed to function and maintain health.

The brain stem extends from the brain down through an opening in the base of your skull and into the upper cervical region. It controls and coordinates virtually every vital function and response in the body, such as pain, sleep, digestion, blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, balance and equilibrium, and MUCH more.

It also acts as a conduit between the brain and the body. Working much like a telephone cable, the brain stem has millions of individual wires, or nerve fibers, that send signals to and from the brain to every system, organ, muscle, and cell within the body.  We must have 100% brain-to-body communication in order to function properly and remain healthy.

At Atlas Specific, we utilize the most precise form of Chiropractic Care called Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific. This technique focuses on removing the interference in the upper part of the neck where the brainstem sits with one simple adjustment.

The upper cervical area comprises the top two bones in the neck, the Atlas (C1) and the Axis (C2). These are the only two vertebrae in the entire spine that do not have an intervertebral disc.  They are designed to move in six directions and are considered freely moveable. As a result of this free motion, the top two bones are more susceptible to misalignment than any other part of the spine.

If one of the two upper bones (C1 or C2) becomes misaligned, it is called an Upper Cervical Subluxation. When a subluxation occurs, two things happen. One, it irritates or interferes with the brain stem and reduces brain-to-body communication.  Wherever those messages were intended to go, whether it’s your foot, kidney, pancreas, heart, lungs, eyes, or ears, it is going to malfunction, become sick, and possibly shut down.

Secondly, consider the upper spine a kinetic chain connected from head to toe.  If either of the top two bones becomes misaligned, the rest of the body must compensate or adapt, resulting in total “body imbalance."  This imbalance can compromise your health and affect your whole body.

This type of care is an excellent solution for anyone and everyone! Upper Cervical Chiropractic can be a helpful form of gentle, non-invasive, drug-free care for athletes, seniors, infants, children, people with disabilities, those who have suffered a recent injury or trauma, and anyone with a history of chronic health problems.

Often people consider Chiropractic Care to be a solution to back and neck problems. But, Upper Cervical Care can be beneficial for people experiencing:

  • Headaches/migraines

  • Vertigo

  • Dizziness

  • Reduced range of motion

  • Tinnitus

  • Sleep disorders

  • Stress/depression/anxiety

  • Numbness/tingling/burning

  • Digestive issues

By restoring the normal function and balance of the neck and spine, Upper Cervical Chiropractic aims to improve the overall health and wellness of the individual and support the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a form of Chiropractic Care that focuses on the vital connection between your neck, brainstem, and central nervous system. During your treatment, we utilize State-of-the-Art Technology in order to determine where and when care is needed. Forget chasing symptoms. We correct the problem at its source.

It is estimated that there are only 1,200 Chiropractors in the world specializing in Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractic Care. Our Doctors, Timothy Dugas and Danielle Donarski, have both earned their advanced post-graduate certification in Upper Cervical Specific Care and graduated with honors from Life Chiropractic College West

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care focuses on the top two bones in the neck (C1 & C2). These two bones are considered “free moving” and can misalign in 274 different combinations. Without proper analysis and radiographic findings, it is literally impossible to determine how to correct such complex and subtle misalignments.

Often, Upper Cervical Specific Doctors are looking for a millimeter or less of misalignment. Each individual person has their own unique misalignment, which is why every degree of misalignment changes the type of adjustment they receive.
